Role Reversal

For the next two weeks we are doing a little role reversal in the Hinson house...I am the one that gets to go here

for this

to do a little thing called work.

Terry will get the chance to experience what it is like to be full time hands on caregiver. Now mind you he will not be working full time during the day while taking care of Kendall and the house, but I'm hoping he will gain some insight into what it is like when he is gone for 10 weeks, not just 10 days.

While I am SO EXCITED for this opportunity I'm gonna miss my little BooBoo SO MUCH! I have never been away from her for more than one night at a time (well except for the time we went to the Championship game in Arizona when UF beat down Ohio, but Kendall was only 2 months old, so that really doesn't count).

Thank goodness for Skype*!

Dora the Explorer

Last night (8/5) I took Kendall to see Dora the Explore at the Times-Union Center. Going into it I wasn't too sure what to expect from her. Fortunately she LOVED IT!! We had pretty good seats up front and on the aisle. She was dancing and jumping up and down in the aisle. She was being so interactive and just had this look of awe on her face. I was so excited for her. The second half of the show she wasn't quite as excited, I think she was getting tired (it was 8:00). She did however talk about it the entire ride home and was the first thing she wanted to talk about when she got up this morning.
I wanted to take more pictures but we had the camera nazi usher in our section (no camera allowed)

Dancing Queen

Next month Kendall starts her first dance class. She is taking both ballet and tap. This past weekend we went and got her dancing shoes and while the experience in the store wasn't pleasant (why do they put the princess, barbie and dora stuff right where they can see and pick it up?) when we got home she was loving it. She is actually really good at twirling on her tip toes. She even puts her hands over her head while dancing. She likes to watch episodes of Little Einsteins with June dancing and dance along.

Last night she asked to wear her tutu and dancing shoes. She loved them so much she wanted to sleep in them. I convinced her not to wear the tutu to sleep but relented on the ballet shoes. They were still on when I woke her up this morning. I let her keep them on till we got to school then we changed into her tennis shoes.

I think I might have created a dancing monster......

Bad Choices

Lately Kendall has become a little bossy around the house and sometimes when Terry and I are talking to each other she tells us that it is "Quite Time, Be Quite, No Talking!" usually we just laugh at her-because she is so serious and her facial expressions are hilarious!

Well last night she did her normal rant and I laughed and continued saying whatever it was I was saying and she got very serious turned to me and said, "Mom you are making BAD CHOICES, I asked you to STOP TALKING!"

No idea where she got that from, I can only assume they do that at school when not following directions....hey maybe I'll try that on her when she isn't listening to what I tell her...

New Family Pet

Here is a picture of our newest family pet

What you can't see the picture of our new imaginary lizzard that Kendall insists we have? On Saturday Kendall announced we have a new pet lizzard. We all had to get on the kitchen floor to check him/her/it out. Its name is lizzard, original I know....

Terry suggested maybe we go get a real lizard and turn our once fish tank into a lizard tank...um no thanks. My luck Kendall will try to take it out and play with it and the lizzard will escape and run loose in the house....

Kendallism

We have this little thing that we play with Kendall, Terry will pick her up and I'll get on the other side and we will do a group hug with her in the middle and call it a Kendall sandwich...well this weekend she came and got Terry and says "Lets make a Kendall sandwich, I'll be the meat!"

Galloway-Weel 3

This week we did 5 miles. I was placed in the 3/1 pace group. (It is an average of 10-11 min mile). We started right around 7:15 and the sun was already getting pretty hot. Luckily we ran the beach side of the route first. Overall the run went well. The last quarter mile I was hurting, it was so hot, I was dripping in sweat and dying of thirst. I slowed up a bit the last stretch. Overall average was 11:43 min/mile according to my Ipod (5.32 miles in 1:02:27). Not too bad, a little slower than I want but I'll take it.

I love my Ipod I only have one ear bud in while running so I can still chat and hear things around me but I love how it tracks the distance and time. It keeps me in check and I can't fudge the numbers....but for whatever reason it broke and now I have to get a new one. ugh.

Knees are still a little tender today but improving. We'll see how they hold up tomorrow during my individual training.

Galloway-Week 2

I must admit (and I'm sure I'll be regretting saying this in a few weeks) but this whole running thing isn't so bad. This week we did our Magic Mile (it is some calculation that will place us in the correct pace group for training). I did mine in 10.31. Not too bad. I was hoping for a 10 min mile so I'm just a little off. I will not know until next week which pace group I'm in. After that we did another 2.5 miles. I did a 2/1 pace (run 2 min, walk 1 min). Started out great again but it got really HOT! I needed a water station this time and there was none. I think I might have to become one of those crazy runners with a running belt that holds water bottles....finished in about 35 mins. Felt really great afterwards (besides the whole being hot thing). I was nervous that Sunday I was again going to be feeling the burn like last week, but I felt fine. No pain at all. So another week down and too many to count to go...no really 30 more to go. No problem, right?

Day after...

yeah not feeling as good today as I did yesterday....

Galloway-Week 1

So today was the kickoff for the marathon training. I am part of the St Augustine group, and glad I'm not running in Jax, there are way too many people in that group. I would so intimidated! There were approximately 50 people there today for our first session. We met up at 7 and started out 3 mile run/walk around 7:15ish. I did not have a watch on so I'm not sure of the times. I was in the 1 minute run 1 minute walk group (it was the fastest pace group of the day) and the run went really easy, almost too easy (or at least I thought so at the time). I finished it somewhere around 30 to 45 mins (again not sure because didn't have a watch). Felt great the entire time....now almost 16 hours later I'm beginning to feel the aches in my legs. I'm sure tomorrow will be fun.

Overall please with Week 1. This week I have two small runs Mon and Wed.

Up next Saturday: 4 miles and the magic mile (the use the magic mile number to place you in the correct pace group)

(sorry if this bores you, but I think I need to blog about this to keep me accountable during this process.....)
