Week 1 ISR
Well we completed our first week of swim lessons. We only got to go three days this week due to the holiday on Monday and we were rained out on Wednesday. Overall I am calling this week a success. Kendall was super excited the first day, till she figured out what was really happening. The second day was cancelled due to rain. Thursday she cried the first 5 minutes but finished strong the last 5. Friday was a great day and I think she is doing pretty good actually...she just needs to get her kicking down better. The instructor said that it appears Kendall is concentrating so hard on trying to hold her breath, not inhale water, and find the wall (or the instructors arm) she is forgetting to kick. It is just too much for her to process just yet. (I'm afraid that she gets that from me, I can't drive stick shift because it's just too complicated for me to use two feet, keep on hand on the wheel, shift with the other hand...good grief I can barely drive as it is!-just keeping it honest folks). Here is a little video from class on Friday. Hopefully next week will be a full week of good weather so we won't have any interruptions.

ISR
This year we enrolled Kendall into ISR (Infant Swim Resource) lessons. I wanted to do them last year but since she got her tubes in last year I was a little reluctant. I was determined this year however to get her signed up. It was a bit of a hassle to find a class in our area that worked for us. We finally found one on Vilano Beach. It is a bit of a tote, but it was the best that worked for us.
I have been talking up these swim lessons to Kendall the last few weeks. She was actually supposed to start last week, but with all the rain they were postponed to this week.
Today was the first day, and of course Terry is out of town again so I get to be the lucky one to take her. As soon as we got there she wanted to get in the water and didn't even have any anxiety about going to the swim instructor, Ms. Lauren. The first thing Ms. Lauren had her do was grab onto the wall, no problems. Then she backed up a little further and had her try again. It was a little harder but she did okay. Then Ms. Lauren wanted her to put her chin in the water-yeah that is where she freaked out. It only took one time and a good mouthful of water for her to get it! She was choking so bad I thought she was going to hurl on the swim instructor! The crying began...but Ms. Lauren pushed through it and did a few more exercises with her actually getting her whole face in the water and reaching for the wall. I must say I was a little freaked, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. I guess it wasn't too bad because when I asked if she wanted to come back to swim tomorrow she said yes. Now we'll have to see how she is when we actually get there...no pictures/video allowed the first session, but I hopefully I can get some before the end of the week.

Gold....
Conversation in the car last week on the way home with Terry, Kendall and me....
Scene: Kendall is in the back with her fingers up her nose (her latest pastime..ugh!)
Terry: Hey what are you doing? digging for gold? Get your fingers out of your nose.
Me: Laughing
A few minutes pass....
Scene: Once again Kendall with a finger up her nose (when do they grow out of this?)
Terry: Kendall, what are you doing?
Kendall: Digging for some gold! (Grin on her face)
Me: Laughing so hard I'm almost crying.
The End.
(Now every time Kendall has a finger up her nose and you ask her what she is doing and take her finger out of her nose, she replies "But I'm trying to pick some gold." Great, just great.)

Mommy or Mom?
When do you make the transition from Mommy (or Momma) to just Mom? Kendall is now starting to call me Mom more and more these days. I think it is too early, I'm not ready to just be Mom yet, I still want to be Mommy....she is growing up way too fast!

GATOR!
Big Girl Panties
Look who wore big girl panties to school today.......

"ME!!!"
Kendall's teacher approached me yesterday when I picked her up that she thinks that Kendall is ready to full on potty train. I know this day has been coming quickly-I have known that she is ready but I'm not. Kendall is dry pretty much every morning and for the past week at school has not had a wet diaper. SO today it begins. I'm not buying anymore Pull-ups. We will just use what we have for night-time and any long road trips. She seemed pretty excited about it this morning (as you can tell in the picture) when we were talking about it on the way to school. Let's hope that day 1 in big girl panties will be successful :)

Green (Maybe) Thumb

I decided to get a little adventurous this year and planted two tomato plants, some basil and oregano. I have been envious of my neighbors real garden for the last two years now. I though that I would start in containers this year before making the investment in a real garden. I'm not known to have too much of a green thumb..that is my mom's department. So far things are looking okay. I'm diligently watering every (well almost) everyday. Tonight when Kendall and I were out watering the plants I saw these....

OMG! They are actually producing something...now if i can just make them last....
Stay tuned for more plant updates. I'm sure you are just on the edge of your seat...
More Plants
And to continue with the planting post, I also finally ventured out and bought some planters for my front porch after three years of living in this house...I just couldn't decide what I wanted. No really, I just am not good at the whole gardening thing. I finally made a choice and went with it. These have been around for almost a month now. Not too bad. Wish I had pictures from when I first planted them. The white flowers up-front have really grown and are starting to cascade down the edge and the red ones in the back are getting ready to bloom AGAIN. Yes you read that right they are blooming again, I managed not to kill them after the first bloom (which is what I usually do)! Again, Kendall and I are (almost) watering everyday and deadheading (not sure if that is the right terminology) the spent blooms (almost) daily too. With any luck these beauty's will last till August.
