Well I gave it my best shot but fell a little short last Friday night. I only ended up doing 16.79 miles with average pace 12 min mile. Not too bad but not 20 miles either. I've never had a problem with muscle fatigue in my past runs, but Friday night I just couldn't go any further! My muscles were screaming....it was the first time I felt like crying during a run and almost contemplated calling Terry to come get me because I didn't think I would be able to drive home. I sucked it up and drove myself home with a stop at Publix to pick up some chocolate milk and a large bag of ice. When i finally got home around 9:30 (okay who in their right mind runs that late at night, on a Friday night nonetheless?) Kendall was so excited we were doing another ice bath-me not so much-but knew that it would eventually (key word here) make me feel better. I was whiny the entire 10 minutes and Kendall was so sweet patting my hand and kissing my cheek and sweetly saying to me that "its gonna be okay momma, I'm here for you". As much as I hate it, the ice bath does make my legs recover quicker. I felt pretty good on Saturday and had my last official physical therapy appointment on Monday. I'm discharged unless things go south again, which I'm hoping they will not.
Well gearing up for the 1/2 marathon this Sunday....checked the weather and looks like its going to be dry but pretty cold Sunday morning. Be sure to check back next week for my first race re-cap!

Learning to pose
We had a mini photo session in the kitchen this morning....
Ok good, but try not to lean so far over

Yeah that's it much better

Hmmm, okay nice happy face

When we were done she insisted I take a picture of her "pretty hair" so she could see what it looked like in the back:

Um yeah mom, not so pretty, but hey I was able to get it in pigtails as requested...
Maybe since I'm not so great in the hair do department its a good thing she doesn't really have any hair?

Kendall and the camera
Where has the time gone?
I can't believe Christmas is in TWO weeks!!!!Even though Kendall thinks everyday is Christmas....
Well we spent Thanksgiving in Ohio with Terry's family. Kendall was, as usual, a wonderful plane passenger. This time she didn't have to sit in the car seat. We decided she was big enough to just sit in the seat and she did great. We have Terry's old iPhone, that is basically just an iTouch now, loaded up with a few of her favorite shows and she was content just watching them. It was nice not to have to break out the ol DVD player. It was pretty cold and Kendall loved it. She enjoyed taking the leaves that were piled around out front and throwing them up in the air. We visited with extended family and had a great time just hanging out. We were hoping to see a little of the white stuff but no luck.

Terry was called away to work last week so me and the munchin were just doing our own thing. Finally got the Christmas tree up, by myself. Stockings are up but no lights outside this year. All the kids gifts are done just need to get to wrapping. Don't know why but not much in the Christmas mood this year....just feel like there is so much I want to do with Kendall this year but I'm running out of time.
Last weekend while Terry was gone went to see the big tree downtown with my parents.
Kendall enjoyed seeing the GIANT tree and all the light decorations.

On the agenda for the next two weeks: Jags v Miami, gingerbread house, cut out cookies, buckeyes, Nutcracker (so hope Kendall loves it as much as I do), Kendall school holiday performance, family party, work party, Parrish family in town (yeah), and hoping to take Kendall to her first movie-Princess and the Frog. Still haven't started Christmas cards (may turn out to be New Year Cards at this rate).
Well off to run 20 miles, yes you read that correctly TWENTY MILES tonight. The group run is scheduled for Saturday but since cold rain is in the forecast I'm opting to run in just cold tonight with a few ladies from my group. I haven't done my regularly scheduled run for almost two weeks. Yikes. So dreading this and not at all prepared, mentally or physically, but gotta get it done. I'm even giving up my already scheduled Girls Happy Hour to do this stupid run! Can you believe it!?! (Sorry ladies) I'm an athlete now. At least that is what I'm telling Terry-its my excuse for when I'm having aches and pains-"I'm not old, just an athlete!"
Next week: My first 1/2 Marathon! I'm offically signed up to do the Jacksonville Bank 1/2 Marathon next sunday. Hoping to get a little experience with how race day will be and what to expect.
Holy cow, I'm a runner. Now who would have ever thought that!

17 miles
I ran 17 miles on Saturday and lived to tell about it! This was my longest run and took a little over 3 hours. I can't believe I actually ran for 3 hours. It was actually a really good run for me. I felt great for almost the entire run. My knee didn't start bothering me till around mile 14 or so and even then it was manageable. My energy level was great the entire time and I'm still in shock I was actually able to complete it and feel as good as I did at the end. I did another ice bath once I got home. That wasn't so great, but I really do think it helps in my recover. It's the next day and overall feeling great and knees are holding up. There is a little twinge going up and down the stairs but other than that I'm good.
For the next two weeks we runt 6 miles each than up next is 20 miles! Looking forward to it now!

Pledge of Allegiance
Last week Terry and Kendall were playing around with a mini flag that Kendall had swiped from my parents yard. Out of the blue she busted out with the Pledge of Allegiance! We were totally shocked and no idea she knew it. We have been trying to get it on the camera and were finally successful tonight....
So let me introduce you to Kendall saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

Still...
We are still alive and I'm still running....
Things have been a little hectic these days. The daylight savings change really messes with our schedule since it gets dark SO early. Gone are the days of playing outside after dinner.
I'm still training and for the most part it is going well. I've had to start physical therapy last week for a IT band issue in my right knee. I'm hoping to do a little preventive therapy in hopes of keeping from getting seriously injured. We have our longest run yet, 17 miles, this week! Ugh, I'm already nervous just thinking about it. We did do 14 miles two weeks ago. I did okay, my knee was really hurting the last 2 miles. That's when I decided to get to the dr to see what is going on. At this point we are at the half-way point. Worse case scenario I know I can at least finish the half marathon! Speaking of half-marathon, I'm actually going to do one in December. I'm eager to get some race experience before the real event. I'm sure it will be a wake up call reality check to let me know that I really need to get serious and do my weekly maintenance runs. I'm really struggling with those. I'm all for the Saturday run, but I'm still struggling with the two weekday runs. It's just so hard to find the time to do it, but I'm at the point now where if I really want to do this I don't have a choice. I just have to suck it up and make time and bang it out.
Cross your fingers that I survive this weekend relatively injury free. I already made a PT appt for Monday morning in anticipation of the 17 miles this weekend....
