Spring Fling 2009
The Amenity Center had a Spring Fling Party this weekend. Amoung other things, there was an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. They sectioned the kids off by age, which was a great idea. For the 1-2 year olds they basically just threw a bunch of plastic eggs into the middle of the field and it was a free for all. Kendall was really excited and did quite well. She was savvy enough to figure out that it was best to run past the first eggs to the back and get those first that way she didn't have to fight anyone for eggs. I was quite impressed with her strategy! There were also bouncy houses and slides. She wasn't too sure about the bouncy house, she didn't like all the other kids so close to her, but she loved the big slide. The pics of the slide are on Terry's camera so I'll try to get those later. Meanwhile, enjoy a few Easter Egg pickup pictures...and YES i was able to get a big bow in her hair!! (after much pleading and begging and bribing on my part)

Checking out her loot.....
Oh I almost forgot, Kendall discovered the Hula Hoop. I was so funny! She saw some big kids with them and when the put them down she ran over, grabed one, stepped inside and took hold of the sides and started spinning in circles. I was hilarious! she was just spinning around and around. She loved it so much that we had to take the Hula Hoop home with us....fortunately the DJ that had them thought she was so cute he didn't care.

Pink and Green
LOVE IT! My mom made Kendall this cute outfit this weekend. She is wearing it to school today for the spring parade. I bribed her with some Smarties this morning to let me take her picture.
Me: Okay stand right here and look at Mommy
Kendall:

Me: I'll give you another Smartie if you smile and show me your happy face!
Kendall:

Me: Um, okay, not so much happy face this time, try putting your hands on your hips
Kendall:

Hey at least she is actually looking at the camera and not running away these days.
Here is a close up:

And last but not least a great hair shot:

Wow look how much she has grown in a year! and check out that hair:)
Notice the scowl she has in both pics- if you ask Terry, a trait she inherited from me.
A few weeks ago the weather finally warmed up and since we had the boys for the weekend we decided to take a family trip to the Zoo....unfortunately I think all of Jacksonville had the same idea. It was packed! But the weather was so beautiful it was okay.
Kendall really enjoyed it and the boys were a great help with her. Of course she loved the reptile exhibit but I think her favorite part was the new "Asian Gardens" exhibit they have. Since we have an annual pass we got to see the sneak preview of the Asian Gardens and the kimono dragons. Kendall loved the dragons as you can see. She was calling them "GIANT LIZARDS!" and cried when we left the exhibit.

not real, just a statue, but she loved it all the same

And of course she had to pet the Gator statue too:)

Checking In
We are still alive. My grandmother is still in the level two room. It's like she takes one step forward towards recovery and then bam two steps back. We are trying to limit the visits so she can rest and get stronger. Thanks again for all your prayers.
Terry left again yesterday. This time for only a week or so so not too bad. Kendall is becoming more aware that at random times Daddy leaves but she always says "its okay Daddy come back tomorrow." Good thing she doesn't have any sense of time yet. It also really helps to be able to chat over the computer. I'm still trying to clean of my laptop screen from his last trip when she kissed all over it....
We continue to work on Potty Training with Kendall. She is actually doing really well. I think I have been the one holding her back becasue I just haven't made the commitment yet to just do it. I keep reading in books and other sites that the best way is to just let your little one run around with no diaper and no pants.....well that won't work so well with Kendall. She doesn't even like to run around in a diaper nevertheless totally bottomless. I think this weekend we will breakout the big girl panties and she how she does.
No new pictures. I've been really lazy about that lately...but we have some fun things coming up so I hope to get some good ones up soon.

Grandma update
What a week it has been. My grandma went in for open heart surgery on Monday morning. The surgery itself went fine (she had a valve replacement-I believe it is the same thing Barbara Bush had done this week as well) but she had some bleeding issues. Then while in ICU recovery she starting having seizures. My sister and I were in visiting her when they started. It was pretty scary! They were able to get her some meds to control them, but still don't know why they happened. They think it was a combination of the anesthesia, age and the trauma her body was under from the surgery. She was in the ICU a little longer than they expected due to the seizures but finally got moved to a level two room late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning and finally got the breathing tube removed. I went to see her again yesterday and she is looking MUCH better! They had her up and walking around a bit yesterday as well. We are hopeful she moves to the third level room either today or over the weekend. Still no mention of when she might go home, but honestly I think staying in the hospital is the best thing for her right now. The doctors and staff have been excellent at the new Heart Hospital at the Baptist Downtown campus. She is definitely in good hands.
Oh and then Pops is there too making sure she does her breathing treatments every hour. He said he was paying her back for always bossing him around since he is usually the patient in the bed....I guess that is what being married for 60+ years will get ya.
