Trick-or-Treat 2009

It was so fun this year trick-or-treating with Kendall. We spent the afternoon/evening with our neighbor friend, Will. Earlier in the afternoon we went to the Town Center and rode the train around. That was a big hit. Then we fed the ducks in the pond. From there we went out to eat to get some Mexican food and finally made it back home just in time to trick-or-treat (it was already pretty dark). We only took the kids to a few houses on our street. They were loving it and so cute saying "Trick-or-Treat" and "thank-you"! We made it back to our house and decided to spend the evening outside so the kiddos could run around and we just handed out candy there. Kendall LOVED to hand out some candy! She would go to the end of the driveway and yell at the kids to come get some candy. It was pretty funny.
Kendal was supposed to be Sleeping Beauty-Terry even went out and got the $$$ costume from the Disney store with matching shoes and tiara and wand....and what did she want to wear, her normal play princess dress. She did want the sparkly shoes though....

Pony Rides

The amenity center at the house held a fall festival a few weeks ago. They had train rides, pony rides, a bouncy house and face painting to name a few. Kendall really enjoyed herself that day (even if she isn't smiling in the pictures). I thought we would only be up there for about an hour or so- boy was I wrong! We were there for the entire 3 hours!

12 Miles

2:36 not too bad considering I only got 4 hours of sleep last night! I'm exhausted....and of course this is my longest run yet and I didn't have my Nike chip to record it...ugh!

Kendall turns THREE!

Well for Kendall's third birthday this year we celebrated for 3 days....we kicked of the weekend with cupcakes at school on Friday with her friends. Saturday after my race I brought home balloons and flowers and we celebrated with a family trip to a corn maze/petting zoo/pumpkin patch place in the middle of nowhere Callahan/Hillard. Finally on Sunday we concluded the birthday weekend with a little family party with more balloons and more cupcakes and presents. I love it that she now recognizes that it is her birthday and that it is a special day for her. I'm afraid however that when she wakes up this morning she may still think we should be celebrating her birthday....

Here are some pictures of the birthday activities over the weekend:

Race for the Cure

Well this weekend I had first race in forever...I participated in the Race for the Cure 5k event. I was a little nervous going in because I had not run a race in over 4-5 years. Of course this weekend was the coldest weekend so far this fall and it was absolutely FREEZING!! I seriously sat in my car until it was time to line up for the race because I couldn't handle it. The first mile went pretty quickly but my hands were going numb from being so cold. I was able to run the first mile with no walk breaks, I was pretty excited about that. The second mile I finally started to warm up and took a 1 minute walk break trough the water station. The third mile was a little tough since it was a little bit uphill and running into the sun. By that time I was still feeling pretty good overall but starting to get hot. I had to take my jacket off. I took another 1 minute walk break during the third mile. We rounded the corner and I saw the third mile marker up ahead and the time was 30:25 and I was a little crushed because my time goal was 30 minutes but decided to run it out hard so there I went running like a crazy person to the finish line. My official chip time was 31:06 and I was 40 out of 126 in my age group. Overall I'm satisfied with the race even though I didn't reach my time goal, but nevertheless happy with the results.

PR #1

Last night I hit a personal record for the one mile....9'58"!!! Yes finally I did the mile under 10 minutes! But it went downhill from there, it was so muggy last night I was having trouble breathing so I quickly deteriorated from there.

That's okay though, I'm still happy with my run (and the fact that I actually got myself together to go run last night)....

Running Update

Thought I would post a little update on my marathon training....after my run in NY i missed almost 2 weeks. The first week I was just back from NY and Terry left so I really didn't feel like running on Saturday since I just ran on Tuesday (and I didn't have a sitter to watch Kendall-it's tough to get someone to come babysit at 5:30 in the morning). The following Saturday I was in Atlanta and had planned to do my 7 mile run, but yeah, that didn't happen. I did make it the next weekend I was back home. It was a 5 mile run, went OK,not good, not bad, just glad to get it over with. Last weekend was a big one, 9 miles! I completely slept through my alarm on Saturday so I missed the group run. I did manage to get myself up and run on Sunday however. I ran about 8.7 miles, just shy of the 9, but I did it all by myself. I was pretty proud of myself too. I ran the neighborhood and it was super HOT but I got it done. I haven't been very good about running during the week however. I am going to have to step that up this week since I really to get the total mileage up to help build my endurance.

Today I was able to wrangle myself out of bed and join the group run at 6am. We only did 6 miles and made great time (avg pace was 11 mi mile). Never thought I would say "only ran 6 miles"! The temps are a little cooler in the morning now so that really helps too.

I did go and get fitted for some new shoes this week, so maybe that helped.

So the training continues and I continue to suprise myself (nearly) every week that I can actually get it done. 10 weeks down, another 20 till the marathon!
